You missed your period last month, you are worried. Did you miss on a pill, are you pregnant all these and more thoughts are causing you the worry. There could be more reasons than pregnancy which could have caused delayed periods. Well before you panic and run to get a pregnancy check kit, here are some more reasons due to which you missed your periods


Stress can throw off your hormones, can cause change in every day routine. Stress affects a part of your brain hypothalamus which is responsible for your period. If you had recently been through a setback, breakup or dealing with someone’s death or some other stress that you are dealing with, it could be a reason behind your delayed period.

Thyroid Inactivity

The thyroid gland regulates the body metabolism and when thyroid glands don’t function properly the hormone levels also get affected. The overactive (hyperthyroidism) or underactive (hypothyroidism) thyroid gland can have implications on your menstrual cycle.


Birth Control

When you go on or the off the contraceptive pills, it takes time for the body to regulate the periods accordingly. Also if you were injected or implanted with any other contraceptives, you could miss your periods.



Extreme weight loss or weight gain can cause imbalance in your hormones. It’s not healthy if you body does not ovulate and this can be cause of your missed periods.
